Busy, Busy, Busy

My dirty faced kids

We have been very busy so I haven't had time to post for awhile. The kids are both taking a t-ball class at the YMCA. Theresa was eager to play when Travis did over the summer but We felt with her speech issues it wasn't the time. She is talking so much now that it is no longer an issue but we wanted Travis with her still. They learn all the fundamentals of t-ball. Theresa is also taking a gym & swim class with Me at the YMCA also. She loves to jump.

Travis is loving Kindergarten and is doing well in after school care. They help him do his homework and also give them at least 45 minutes a day of work on school items. Theresa has started back to Assistance League School. She goes Tues, Wed, & Thursday afternoon. She then gets to spend time with Grandma, Grandpa & the doggies until Mom & Dad get off work.

Matt & I were able to go to a Dodger game when my Mom was in town. It was so cool. It was Tommy Lasorda's 80th birthday and alot of former Dodgers sent him messages. It was a must go game for true Dodger fans.

The kids are very much into sports now. Travis is able to tell you all about Nascar and which driver has which number. Sundays are spent with the kids cheering for Football. Matt is just glad that I love football just as much as him so we will watch the games together. We are in a Yahoo Fantasy league with family and some friends. I am in 1rst place not bad for a girl.

Monterey

We meet Jon & Mychele and the twins in Monterey this weekend. We thought it would be a great idea to get on the road early so we would miss alot of traffic. Well I think getting up at 3:00am is crazy but we got on the road by 4:15 and we were in Salinas to have breakfast with Matt's aunt and uncle by 8:30. They took us to the most wonderful place to eat. It is called Black Bears Diner. They have huge portions and it is southern home cooking. The kids loved it because they have carvings of black bears all over the restuarant and outside.

We had a nice visit then Matt wanted to get back on the road to check out Cal State Monterey Bay. He attended there when it first opened 12 years ago. Wow we are old. It has changed alot since he was there 10 years ago. It is on an old military base and alot of the buildings are boarded up. It looks like a deserted town. I wasn't very impressed.

We finally begged to check in the hotel early since we were exhausted. We got a little rest in then found out the tickets that you buy from the hotel for the aquarium are 2 day tickets. We decided might as well get a couple hours in since Jon & Mychele weren't expected until 7:00.(Jon had to work) Travis loved the big tanks that had sharks and stuff. Theresa was into the pretty colors like the jellies. On the drive home from the aquarium we noticed they had a Black Bear Diner so we thought good place to go for dinner when everyone got there. Dinner was fabulous and we all decided we were definitely going for breakfast the next morning.

Sunday got up early (the kids are always awake by 7:00)and we went to the aquarium. We had a great time seeing Brett & Evan. The kids are loving how much time they are spending with their cousins. We didn't see them for 10 months now 3 times in 2 months.

First Day of school good and alot of bad

A hug from Sister

Yeah Travis started school today. He is going to Olivelands. Matt, Theresa & I took him to school this morning. We got to meet his teacher Ms. Burke. She seemed very nice and Travis took off riding on the tricycle. He didn't care if we were there or not. Everything seemed great. I didn't get a call so all seemed good. We signed him up for the after school program because they provide 45-60 minutes of tutoring every day. The program is free so might as well take advantage.

5:30 this is the time we are supposed to pick Travis up from after school care. Matt arrives with Theresa and asks the bus driver where after schhol care is located. He points out the building and leaves with the kids on his bus from after school care. Matt goes into the building to pick up Travis and is told that they asked the kids how they were getting home and if they said the bus they put them ( Why would you listen to a 5 year old? Plus we filled out 3 pages that says we are picking him up and who is authorized).

They tell Matt that the bus will drop him off at Briggs School in about 15 minutes. I came straight home because my kid is now lost. 20 minutes has now past and no
travis or bus.
I leave Matt at Briggs and go back to Olivelands. They look at
me when I walk and I tell them I need
help my kid is missing. They inform me he is not missing just misplaced. How do you misplace a kindergartener?

They see that I am about to lose it and decide to call the bus driver to make sure he is on the bus. Thank goodness he is. They tell me the bus will be at Briggs in 5 minutes. I go to Briggs and wait. It takes 15 minutes but my Travis is there. They also put another girl on the bus. Her parents were just as scared as we were. I just kept thinking what if he gets off the bus somewhere and is roaming the streets of Santa Paula.

The one bright spot to this whole episode is the principal of Briggs is there and is going to deal with this first thing in the morning. The bus driver has also been told never to pick up Travis. Travis doesn't seem to have been bothered but we sure were. I don't think we will ever forget his first day of Kindergarten.

My First Post

I have been trying since June to make this first post but we have way too much going on. Travis has been busy with t-ball at the YMCA and Theresa went to a special school for the month of July. This school works on her gross motor delay and also her speech. Before she started at Assistance League she said maybe 10 words. Now you can't stop her. She is saying about 2 new words a day. Theresa and I went to Reno to visit my aunt Mary and the family in the middle of July. Theresa surprised us by saying the word "purple". How she was able to do I have no idea but it is her new favorite word and favorite color also.

I can't wait for Travis to start Kindergarten. He is getting so old now no longer my little boy. He will be 6 in December.

I am addicted to reading everyone's blog so I had to do my own. Well that looks like enough for now. Time to go home from work so Matt & I can go out to dinner for my birthday. A few hours with no kids (heaven)
